Psychology Department
Here in Lucena Clinic CAMHS there is at least one Clinical Psychologist attached to each multidisciplinary team.
You may meet one of us when you first come to the clinic, or we may be asked to work with you during your treatment by another team member who has met with you. You might also meet Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists during your assessment or treatment, they work in teams under the supervision of fully qualified Staff Grade or Senior Clinical Psychologists.
Clinical Psychologists in CAMHS offer psychological assessments, talking therapies in groups or individually and consult to their teams when necessary.
Assessments involve a variety of approaches including interviews with individual children and young people, families and sometimes other people who are closely involved like teachers.
Clinical psychologists in CAMHS also carry out observations and sometimes use questionnaires and psychometric tests and use their specialised knowledge and experience to assess and treat moderate to severe mental health problems.
